  • create a community of readers and writers who share a love of liberation and literature

Octavia Butler

"Freedom is dangerous but it's precious, too. You can't just throw it away or let it slip away."

―Parable of the Sower, 1993

James Baldwin
(1924 - 1987)

"Freedom is not something that anybody can be given; freedom is something people take and people are as free as they want to be."

― Nobody Knows My Name, 1961

Mark Aguhar

"Why is power so reduced to testosterone and money and the phallus? Where are the tricksters, and the sneaks, marked by illusion and deception and joy and glamour and transformation?"

Vision

We want to be free

Pomegranate Books envisions a world where all people can experience freedom. We aim to be a hub for creative expression where visionaries can be free to write with reclamation of their power.

We believe a better world can exist, and it's our duty to show it is possible through publishing compelling stories, characters and narratives. Storytelling can shape our future, which is why we center writing from underrepresented people and perspectives that have the most daring takes on freedom.

We hope you join us as a writer or a reader!
