Hello, I'm Luna
and since I love writing so much, I became a publisher.

I was once an angsty teenager writing poetry to my middle school crushes. Then I authored my first memoir Trauma Queen at 19, wrote a collection of poetry titled Heal Your Love that landed me as a Lambda Literary Finalist, and now I am publishing my first collection of short fiction titled The Hex through Pomegranate Books. In between I published essays and short stories in various online publications and print anthologies including The Resilience Anthology, Nerve Endings: The New Trans Erotic, and the 2nd edition of Colonize This! I wrote a 10-minute musical titled DEVOTED for Theater Battery in 2022, and I'm also currently a co-writer and co-director of Transmutation: A Ceremony with Mirror Memoirs.

(Did I mention how much I love writing?)

In 2012, I was an editor with biyuti publishing, a trans woman of color publishing press, and from 2018 - 2020 I was the Co-Director of Heartspark Press where we published 99% Chance of Magic, the first fully illustrated chapbook by trans people for trans children.

I founded Pomegranate Books to build a home for trans & queer writers of color to unleash their humor, creativity and power onto the page through culturally competent writing development programs and publishing opportunities.

Vision
We want to be free
Pomegranate Books envisions a world where all people can experience freedom. We aim to be a hub for creative freedom, where writers can be free to write in reclamation of their power.

We believe a better world can exist, and it's our duty to show it is possible through compelling stories, characters and narratives.
Octavia Butler
(1947 - 2006)
"Freedom is dangerous but it's precious, too. You can't just throw it away or let it slip away."
―Parable of the Sower, 1993
James Baldwin
(1924 - 1987)
"Freedom is not something that anybody can be given; freedom is something people take and people are as free as they want to be."
― Nobody Knows My Name, 1961
Mark Aguhar
(1987 - 2012)
"Why is power so reduced to testosterone and money and the phallus? Where are the tricksters, and the sneaks, marked by illusion and deception and joy and glamour and transformation?"
― Calloutqueen
